About GEIA

Engineers and growers, building for real farms.

GEIA is an open, modular smart-farming platform designed to help growers automate, observe and improve real growing environments, without forcing every farm into the same system.

Why GEIA exists

Automation should create understanding, not another black box.

Across agriculture, growers face the same pattern: manual work that does not scale, unstable conditions, limited visibility between cycles, and automation systems that are rigid or difficult to adapt.

Timers and isolated controllers can trigger actions. They rarely explain what changed, why it changed, or how to improve the next cycle. GEIA was created to close that gap.

Manual work

Repeated checks and actions consume time and become inconsistent as a grow expands.

Unstable conditions

Water, climate and equipment interact; isolated controls miss the complete picture.

Missing context

Without event history, charts and images, it is difficult to compare one cycle with another.

A shared operating layer

GEIA connects monitoring, automation and learning while keeping the grower in control.

Built across real growing systems

Different methods shaped one adaptable platform.

GEIA grew from practical work across systems with very different dynamics, risks and constraints.

01💧

Hydroponik

Reservoirs, irrigation, water chemistry and environmental control.

02

Aeroponics

Including high-pressure systems where timing and reliability matter.

03🐟

Aquaponik

Living systems that require careful observation and safe operating limits.

04🌿

Soil cultivation

Climate, irrigation, logging and gradual automation without replacing the farm.

Indoor-first, not indoor-only

GEIA focuses on controlled environments, where automation has the strongest immediate value, while supporting outdoor monitoring, seasonal comparison and remote experiments.

  • Test before expanding
  • Compare cycles
  • Adapt to local conditions
From system to platform

No single configuration represents a real farm.

Different growers need different sensors, logic, infrastructure and levels of control. GEIA therefore evolved from one automation system into a modular platform.

Explore the platform architecture
  1. 1
    Begin with a problem

Monitor a tank, stabilize a room or automate a repeated task.

  2. 2
    Build one logical zone

Combine the sensors, rules and equipment that belong together.

  3. 3
    Expand without replacement

Add nodes, zones, integrations or edge infrastructure as needs change.

  4. 4
    Learn across cycles

Use shared history, events and images to refine the next strategy.

Ecosystem and collaboration

Useful infrastructure becomes stronger when more people can extend it.

GEIA connects growers using it in real environments, builders integrating hardware and software, and partners contributing services, tools and expertise.

Who is behind GEIA

Founded close to the problem.

GEIA was founded and architected by Junell Abdi, drawing on decades of experience in IT systems, embedded development, infrastructure and hands-on farming automation.

The platform has since been shaped with engineers, designers, farmers, researchers and early testers across multiple countries. It evolved through real deployments and practical constraints - not in isolation.

Looking forward

Built to support many real farms, not one perfect farm.

GEIA is an open foundation for long-term learning, automation and collaboration across different farming contexts.
